Merdeka 118 — a skyscraper in Kuala Lumpur with a height of 679 meters, built in 2023.

Merdeka 118 has become the second tallest building in the world after Burj Khalifa in Dubai (828 meters). It is also the tallest building in Malaysia and the entire Southeast Asia region.

The building was officially opened by the King of Malaysia on January 10, 2024, but interior construction work continued for several more years. The Park Hyatt hotel opened to guests in August 2025.

The View at 118 observation deck is scheduled to open on December 15, 2026. Adult tickets cost MYR 150, while tickets for children and senior citizens cost MYR 90. Children under two years old enter free of charge. The observation deck at Merdeka 118 Tower is open from 10:00 AM to 10:00 PM.

The architectural height of the tower, including the spire, is 678.9 meters (2,227 feet). The spire itself measures 158 meters, and the top floor reaches a height of 517.4 meters.

The View at 118 observation deck at Merdeka Tower is scheduled to open on December 15, 2026, and will initially operate only from Monday to Thursday.

An adult ticket to The View at 118 costs MYR 150. Reduced-price tickets are available for children aged 3–12 and senior citizens aged 61 and above, at MYR 90. Children under two years old can visit the observation deck free of charge.

In Malay language, “Merdeka” means “independence.” The tower received its name from the nearby Merdeka Stadium, where in 1957, prime minister Tunku Abdul Rahman declared Malaysia’s independence from Britain.

According to reports, approximately 5 billion ringgit (1.07 billion dollars) was spent on the construction of the tower.
